Frequently Asked Questions
Q -- I am having problems loading or saving games when using the trainer. It says "File Contains Invalid Data."
A -- You need the Drexler RCT Patch.
Q -- My game freezes after 5-10 minutes.
A -- This appears to be caused by using All Attractions in v5.0 of the trainer. I have been told that using v6.0beta2 fixes this, but I don't have that problem with either version so I can't say it does for sure.
Q -- In v6.0, clicking on the Rides button causes RCT to freeze.
A -- Once again, I have not been able to reproduce this problem. It has been reported that uninstalling everything, then re-installing fixes this problem.
Q -- I have v6.0beta1 and am running either Win2000 or WinMe. The trainer crashes constantly.
A -- The first beta did not work with Win2000 or WinMe very well. Beta2 should fix the problem.
Q -- I have v6.0beta1 and it does not work on the Original RCT nor CF.
A - Beta2 fixes this problem. But be advised that the trainer is designed for LL. Although it will work on the previous versions, some features will not work correctly.
Q -- What Trainer Maker Kit did you use?
A -- I did not use any type of kit. While those tools are nice for making simple trainers, they simply cannot do the things necessary for most of the features to work. I used C and C++ for the trainer.
Q -- Can you send me some codes so I can write my own trainer. Or help me write a trainer?
A -- Once again, I did not use a kit for the trainer. And, sorry, but I am not going to release my source code at this time. If you really want to write a trainer for RCT, go to Doctor J's site. You can find a ton of information there, as well as a tutorial on using TMK. Once you have a basic trainer released, then I will be more willing to share information. I know this sounds really arrogant, but I have had way too many people ask me for help. Hacking RCT requires some programming knowledge, or at least skill in hex editing. I just don't have the time to walk everyone through the process of writing a basic trainer.
